两都不都是表示单位吗？

根据我的观察，
institute 一般只学院，院校
如 Massachusetts institute of technology
马萨诸塞科技学院

institution 是单位，机构， 制度，习俗
如 the institutions of marriage and the family.
婚姻和家庭制度

work institution
工作单位
